From 2001 to 2004, I was editor-in-chief of Parents.com. I executed the online strategy and directed operations for this content-rich site with an extremely active community and a targeted weekly email newsletter program. I managed a team of four full-time staffers plus contract writers and designers. I also oversaw a complete relaunch and design update and launched a parent-to-parent online community that saw 1,000 percent growth year over year in active users. During my tenure, Parents.com saw a 400 percent increase in monthly unique visitors, a 69 percent increase in magazine subscriptions sold, and a 48 percent increase in advertising revenue booked.
Here are a few screen shots that capture Parents.com as it looked during my time there. See the current site here.
Targeted Week-by-Week Newsletter: Your Baby's First Year -- I wrote 52 weekly installments of this newsletter, plus 40 installments of a weekly pregnancy newsletter. Users signed up by giving their baby's birth or due date, then received an email blast filled with relevant info and links to Parents.com.
